The ease of installing and the satisfaction when you see your customized name on the menu bar is amazing. If you follow the simple instructions it would hardly take less than 5 minutes. I have named it HPD_API which is referencing our company. Would like to build custom tools that can be shared and used by my colleagues. This is the best learning and develop material on the internet. Interactive, easy to use and with a lot of information. The code sample exceed my expectations, it saves a lot of steps and work. For someone who wants to develop his own tool bar for Revit this is the place to start.

If you ever thought you'd never be a coder of any skill level but regret that maybe you should have an any point in time, get yourself Erik's Starter Kit. It will change your mind. Though the hard part is still the Revit API and writing functional code, Erik removes some of that fear and provides just enough to actually get you going to a point where you just might think, "I can actually do some of this now" Great job, Erik!

I've had a love/hate relationship with Revit for over a decade. I appreciate the BIM power it offers, but I've been frustrated by the limited development of features crucial to my workflow. I always wanted to create custom tools, but the complex .NET development environment and lack of community support kept me on the sidelines, relying on expensive third-party products. In 2022, I ventured into the pyRevit world, and for the first time, I felt genuinely excited about the Revit platform. Now, we have every reason to take the initiative ourselves without changing careers or abandoning projects to specialize in software development. Recently, I discovered EF tools and the StarterKit, which made the learning curve much easier. Customizing your toolbar, referencing code written by others, and gradually prototyping your tools step by step is incredibly fulfilling. For the first time, we'll see Revit development led by a community of architects, engineers, and BIM specialists, showcasing the diversity, generosity, and supportiveness of our tech-AEC community. Even if you're not a member of the LearnRevitAPI course, I still recommend downloading and studying the free resources provided by Erik, as well as exploring EF tools and subscribing to the YouTube channel.
